Questions, answered plainly.

Everything worth knowing before you trust Authenticator with your codes.

Does Authenticator work offline?

Yes. TOTP codes are generated on your device and do not need a network connection.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can add, view, and copy codes without creating an Authenticator account.

What happens if I lose my phone?

Your third-party account recovery methods remain essential. Optional encrypted backup and sync can help restore Authenticator data, but you should always keep recovery codes provided by each service.

Is reading my codes a premium feature?

No. Generating, viewing, and copying the codes you own remains free. Premium is reserved for optional capabilities such as encrypted sync, backup, widgets, and Apple Watch.

Which codes are supported?

Authenticator supports RFC 6238 time-based one-time passwords (TOTP). HOTP imports are rejected.

Can you see my setup secrets?

Authenticator stores secrets encrypted on your device. Optional cloud paths carry encrypted data; no custom Nodebin backend receives plaintext token material.
